Study ballet in the Italian city of Genoa with the Joffrey’s world class faculty. Stacy Caddell, former principal dancer for New York City Ballet directs the program along with Angelica Stiskin, Artistic Director of the Jazz/Contemporary Program. Students are provided an intensive ballet training all day, and contemporary classes. Then they are immersed in Italian culture in the evenings. The intensive includes a trip to Milan, center of the fashion industry in Italy where we will attend a ballet at Italy’s renowned Teatro alla Scala, performed by the theater’s world famous ballet company. Students live in the lovely sea-side Pegli district in the Hotel Meditarranee across from the street from the beach and local parks. Classes include ballet technique, pointe, variations, contemporary dance, pilates/conditioning and Repertory. There will be showing of student work at the end of the program.

Ages (14-25) Local Italian dancers can attend 1 or 2 weeks. All other students MUST attend the 2 week intensive.

TheLa Scuola Di Danza Obviettivo Danza is between Pegli and Pra, in private industrial complex of the former Fonderie San Giorgio.

The lovely Hotel Mediterranee in Genova (Pegli district) is across the street from the beach and a local park. The area around the hotel is replete with cute shops, restaurants and geloterias. Full breakfast and two course dinner with desert are provided. Joffrey housing staff on site to assist students. Walking distance from studios or a short trip by public transport. Joffrey staff will escort students to class on a fixed schedule. Check in is Sunday July 15th and checkout is Saturday July 28th. (Students traveling on with the chaperoned Joffrey group will arrive Saturday July 14th).

For those who are opting in the JBS Chaperoned Travel:

Travel from New York JFK airport to housing in Genoa and back again. Departure Friday July 13 overnight flight arriving Saturday morning in Milan with transfer to Genoa from Milan airport. Students will meet and depart from the Joffrey Ballet School and will return to the Joffrey Ballet School after landing.  It will be possible for parents to meet underage students at the airport on arrival or for adult students (18+) to leave directly from the airport on return.

14 years of age or older to be in Joffrey Ballet School housing in Italy. Students under 14 years of age that require housing will be required to travel with parents.

Chaperoned Travel + Ticket Option: $1800
Chaperoned travel from New York JFK airport to housing in Genoa and back again. Departure Friday July 13 overnight flight arriving Saturday morning in Milan with transfer to Genoa from Milan airport. Students will meet and depart from the Joffrey Ballet School and will return to the Joffrey Ballet School after landing. It will be possible for parents to meet underage students at the airport on arrival or for adult students (18+) to leave directly from the airport on return. Students must meet Joffrey Ballet School staff at New York JFK Airport.

Lunch: Studio is in a safe and peaceful neighborhood in a Village like setting. There are several restaurants (pizzerias and sandwich shops) and a full supermarket where prepared foods can be purchased around the corner from the studios (a very short walk).

  • Shopping trips to the Old City of Genoa

We know you are anxious to find out everything you need to know to prepare for your intensive(s) and we cannot wait to share all the details! All dancers are required to complete our Online Pre-Check In form prior to arrival. All dancers will need to DocuSign their Pre-Check In packet, print and bring it with them to orientation/housing check in.

Non-Refundable Tuition and Other Fees
It is the policy of the Center for American Dance / Joffrey Ballet School that all tuition and other fees paid shall not be refunded at any time, regardless of the time of cancellation by the student or student’s parents or guardians or whether the relevant program has commenced. In the event that the relevant program has been cancelled by the Center for American Dance / Joffrey Ballet School, the School will make best efforts to move the student into a substantially similar program; in the event that no such substantially similar program exists, the School will issue a full refund.
In some instances we are able to offer a credit towards Joffrey programing which must be used in 1 calendar year. The Registration Fee, ALL DEPOSITS, and all Processing Fees are non-refundable and will be forfeited.
Prior to May 1st, a credit for any payments already made may placed in the dancer’s name to be used for future Joffrey programming. All payments made at the time of withdrawal are non-refundable. Any future payments still due to the school will be waived at the school’s discretion.
After May 1st, all payments are non-refundable. If a dancer’s withdrawal is due to injury or illness, and certified by a Dr’s. note, a partial credit may be used towards next summer at the Joffrey Ballet School’s Discretion. Credit can not be issued for housing and meal plans payments.

The Joffrey Ballet School prides itself in taking photos of the dancers that represent their superb experience and will utilize the photos for its website and or marketing and advertising purposes. Dancers and parents are welcome to take photos of the dance experience. When attending the program you consent to the use of your photography in our website and marketing materials.
