Katelyn Prominski, of Washington, DC, trained with The Washington School of Ballet and San Francisco Ballet School. She also studied privately with Shirley Bennett and Barbara Walczak. Ms. Prominski was a member of the corps de ballet with the Boston Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, and Suzanne Farrell Ballet, and was frequently looked to for soloist opportunities. She has an extensive knowledge of the Balanchine technique, after performing over 20 of his ballets, most notably, the Strip Tease Girl in Slaughter on 10th Avenue, First Theme/Phlegmatic in The Four Temperaments, and as one of the Three Girls in La Valse. Additionally, she has danced a large classical repertoire including works by Frederick Ashton, John Cranko, August Bournonville, Bronislava Nijinska, Mikko Nissinen, Rudolf Nureyev, and Marius Petipa. Ms. Prominski also had many roles created for her in works by Jorma Elo, Mark Morris, and Helen Pickett.
Most recently, Ms. Prominski toured North America with Dirty Dancing, the Classic Story On Stage in the ensemble and as the first cover for Penny. She also was in the world premiere of Susan Stroman’s new musical, Little Dancer, at The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. She was the lead ballet dancer on the national tour of Flashdance the Musical, and regionally, she performed as The Girl in the Green Dress in Singin in the Rain at The Reagle Music Theatre in Waltham, MA. Her commercial work includes featured dancing in a spoof of Taylor Swift’s Shake it Off for DirecTV and being a gorgeous girl for SodaStream. Ms. Prominski’s master teaching and judging credits include Dance Masters of America, Shake it Off, Broadway Connection, and the Joffrey Ballet School Musical Theater Summer Intensive.
