Julie Fisher is former dancer turned Romana’s Certified Pilates instructor, ACE Certified Personal trainer and Core dynamics teacher with a degree in Health Education and a Meisner trained actress.
She grew up in Miami Florida beginning her ballet training with Thomas Armour, one of the first Americans to join the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. She went on to study at the School of American Ballet, the Royal Academy of Dance in London, Joffrey Ballet, David Howard, the Boston Ballet School and then on to dance with their company. She began her Pilates training with Joseph Pilates’ protégé Carola Trier at the age of 13 and later continued her studies with some of the best in the field including Robert Fitzgerald, Peter Vaillancourt, Sari Mejia Santo and Romana Kryzanowska.
After dancing she continued to study different forms of bodywork including Zena Rommett’s floor barre in which she can be seen in their first released video. Her strategies and specific exercise assignments have a direct relationship to the principles of ballet. She has taught ballet in New York and California, Pilates at the Joffrey Ballet School as well as privately in NYC, LA, Miami, Frankfurt and strength trained dancers in NYC including the American Ballet Theatre and New York City Ballet.
She has a strong kinesthetic awareness enabling her to breakdown movement and proper alignment in order to help improve technique as well as strengthen specific weaknesses. Her excitement, enthusiasm and passion for teaching is backed by a continued love for dancers making supplemental training key in keeping them strong so their bodies are able to handle the discipline and dedication involved in the art and guiding them with a healthy lifestyle to maintain a long lasting injury free career.
Julie loves to teach and enjoys the journey with her clients and students as they advance and improve their health, well being and acheive their goals.
