Courtney Hellebuyck began her professional ballet training at The San Francisco Ballet School. She progressed through all levels, and then was asked to be a part of the brand new Trainee program for the Company. She then joined Pennsylvania Ballet II, where she toured with the company to Edinburgh, Scotland to perform Christopher Wheeldon’s “Swan Lake” at the International Dance Festival, as well as performing with the company in every program that season.
Courtney then joined Smuin Ballet under the direction of Michael Smuin himself and was blessed to have a pas de deux choreographed on her for his ballet “Obrigado Brazil.” Most recently, she danced with Cincinnati Ballet for a span of six seasons, during which time she performed many principal roles with the company. Her favorite roles include, “Marie” in Val Caniparoli’s “The Nutcracker”, “Bomb Squad Girl” in Twyla Tharp’s “Upper Room”, “Bluebird”, “Song Fairy”, and “Pas de Trois” in Devon Carney’s “The Sleeping Beauty”, and Demi-Soloist in Stacey Tookey’s “Oneself Perceived”.
Courtney now resides in Denver, CO, freelancing and teaching Barre Fitness at The Ballet Physique, along with guest teaching Ballet and Contemporary for many schools across the United States. Courtney’s Choreography has won the Platinum and 1st Place Overall in Bravo’s Dance Competition, and she is thrilled to be a new part of the Joffrey Summer Intensive Faculty, helping the next generation of Ballet Dancer’s bloom to their full potential!
