Casey Loomis is a performer, visual artist and Pilates instructor based in Brooklyn. Since graduating from Skidmore College in 2008 she has danced for the Metropolitan Opera, Compagnie Julie Bour, Faye Driscoll, Netta Yerushalmy, Buglisi Dance Theater, Brian Brooks Moving Company, KEIGWIN + Company and ChristinaNoel & the Creature among others. She is currently a member of Doug Varone and Dancers and performs weekly with Jenny Rocha & Her Painted Ladies. Casey received her Pilates mat certification from the Kane School of Core Integration after having practiced various forms of classical and contemporary Pilates for many years and has furthered her studies by taking Core Muscle Anatomy, the FAMI (Functional Anatomy for Movement & Injuries) Workshop and Comprehensive Pilates Mat Phase 2 through Kinected. In addition to teaching weekly mat classes at Kinected, Casey has also taught Pilates mat at the Doug Varone and Dancers Summer and Winter Intensives as well as the Joffrey Jazz and Contemporary Summer Intensive. Casey’s classes emphasize biomechanically robust movement through imagery-based cueing and aim to strategically fire targeted muscles while inhibiting unsolicited muscle engagement.
