The audition submission should begin with a short technical demonstration at the barre and center. The student must include plies, tendues, (from fifth position) ronde de jambe, passé and adagio developpe en croix, and balances on one leg. The exercises can be short, but with enough repetition that the dancer can be seen clearly. This section does not need to be more than 6 minutes in length. Please also include a classical variation, (on pointe for women) one to two minutes in length.
The audition submission should include a modern or jazz solo, two to three minutes in length.
The tap audition submission should be a 1-1:30 minute solo performance.
Please begin your video with a verbal introduction. State your name, age, where you are from, your favorite Broadway musical, and an interesting fact about yourself. Next, please record a 1-2 min dance solo in the style of Musical Theatre. Conclude your audition with a song! We would like to hear 32 bars/measures from a Broadway show. It is more important that each students shows that they are ready to stand up and give singing a go even if they can not sing very well. Having the confidence to go for it is really the sign of a performer. If you don’t know any show tunes, you may sing the national anthem or your favorite disney tune, as long as you give it your best shot.
